This is all very confusing and I am hoping that the authors of this software do something about it in a future release. I will try to explain it the best I can.

Profiles

Your profile is actually just the text description that goes along with the name and email address that you are using when you create the profile. You can't change the name or the email in your profile, just the text.

Preferences

This is where you change your name or email address. If you do so, and you have a profile created with your old name, you won't be associated with that profile any longer.

So, if you just want to change the text in your profile, do it in the profile section.

If you want to change your name or email, and you have a profile, delete your profile first, then make the changes and create a new profile.

I know, it is really foobar, but that's just the way it is for now.
