Archie, your badge recommendation and hot sun comments are both in my "treatise" for this year's convention. ("first convention- make the most of it").
This is currently available for perusal on the club's site. I included as many suggestions as usual...yours and Barry's happen to be among the things I mentioned.
It reads fairly well except for the typo that makes it seem like I do not know the difference between "your" and "you're," but aside from that, I suggest anyone who is a first timer either read it online or pick up their copy at the convention.

Mark's idea is also a very good one; I don't do the trade sessions myself, but it's a good idea for anyone who plans on attending those.

(That having been said, would you (or anyone) care to inform Mr. Smith that there is no plural for "treatise?" )
