So right Paul. We left several years ago and the hardest part of leaving was LEAVING! They have a number for people who want to quit and put you on hold all day till you get pissed and just hang up. The only way to cancel them is by fax (I think that is how we finally left them). If you just need an email acct, I think Google has free email (gmail maybe) also. Get a wireless router and your in biz.
