If you put the extra $.17 on the letter it will not go through the sorter. This is where a letter that is not completely flat adds the extra $.17 and will be manually be stamped and not machined stamped.
If you can afford the way you want it to go then do it. I will not trade a inexpensive $1.00 chip for $1.13 postage and will back up what I send using this method. It has worked so far and this is what I will continue to use for current $1 chips. If I have a more expensive chip I will not send it this way. I dont know how other cities are getting away with the cost of their bubble wraps, but here in Algonquin, no matter what size that darn bubble wrap is it will cost me $1.13 for one chip.
