.....is a child's toy that is very easy to make. It is made by pieces of paper cut into pieces and then attached to a stick with a pin going through all of the pieces. The pieces are shaped like a pointy cup. As the wind catches the pieces of paper it spins.

The reason this design is called a pinwheel, is because it looks like the spinning part of the toy.
