The Last Frontier was opened on Oct 30, 1942 and was the second "Strip" resort on the famous Las Vegas Strip .
It only had at the time 105 Rooms
People who have performed there have ranged from Ronald Reagan, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Sammy Davis Jr, Judy Garland, Elvis, Mickey Rooney
The building That is Now the Last Frontier was built in 1967 and one of the owners at that time was a youngster by the name ....Steve Wynn
Because of "Mob Ties" Howard Hughes bought the Last Frontier on Sept 22, 1967 and shortened the name to "The Frontier"
The Sign in Front of the Frontier was put up in 1969
The first time the Frontier was rumored to be closing in 2000 there was talks that it was going to be a San Francisco based themed resort . Of course it never happened
The old rumor is that the "New" resort on the site will be named Montreux after a Swiss resort town known for it's Jazz Festival . It also is rumored to have a Observation tower and cater to "The High End Client's". But that has changed to Plaza Las Vegas . ELAD Properties which owns the Plaza New York bought out the area of the Frontier and will put up the Resort . It is said that the main resort will be a replica of the New York Hotel
