Ummm, let me see if I can explain this...
In Response To: Who is Who???? ()

Splashbar is a state of mind (OK that is a bit of esoteric cr@p).

There is no set group, I am sure you will get a lot of pics, and such, and there is a mass shot from last year (but for every person in it, there are several who aren't) and when Pasternack tried naming the ones in the pic, it set off quite a fun debate. You may try to go to the chipper friends site (I know I have it but can't find it-but I am sure it will get provided). It has lots of pics of lots of members and even a few names.

There is not a formal group that make up Splashbar, it is a wonderful social setting, handy to the convention and other Riv facilities. It is a place where folks may stop for a moment, or for an evening to tell stories, share info, trade (especially personals) and try to assist newbies with whatever they need.

The guy who is the poster child for splashbar is Brian Cashman, who is one of the best people you will ever meet. Other regulars include Doug 'Cigarman' Smith (our new treasurer-so I presume he is buying), David Spragg who will try to sell you something but is also a bastion of info, my dear friend Tyrus Mulkey who introduced me to all these guys, and of course Dennis Shoop is I also love like a brother. There is also the grumpy ones (get to know them, they are among the best folks in the hobby) like Chuck Smorse (who never smiles, but will go out of his way to help out a friend-he has for me more than once) and Gene Trimbell from the Palms. Gene is a walking history book, and his influence is seen in the history of LEs and such from places like the Palms-he is also a large part of the reason we have professionally run Poker and Blackjack tournaments. And let us not forget folks like Pasternack, Mike Heron, Fred and Geri Hempel, Darrel and Tammy Lynch, Greg Susong, Debbie Meister, Sheldon and Christine Smith, Sunday Silverman, Pam Holmgren, Terry Shaffer, Andy Hughes, Belinda Hixon, Jim Follis, Capt Q, Mark Lighterman, Ed Hertel, Ricky Pushkin, Jay Sands, Ross Poppel, this year's recipient of the splashy- Brian May and his main squeeze Julie Smith.

Go to the convention, it is a wonderful experience, go to Splash Bar, it is a great spot with the sweetest folks a person could ever hope to know. I hope I get a chance this year to make it, if not Have one for me. grin
