Shop and Card Room, Paso Robles, CA...

So last weekend I was in Paso Robles, CA for a wedding, but I was there for 3 days and made the best of what I could with the nearby antique shops.

In one shop, I came across 30, $1 slot machine tokens, but passed on all of them at the bargin rate of $9 EACH!! Venturing further into the shop, I came across a little box that had 15 yellow and beige, "Duke's"/"GFB" chips in it. Attached was a note that read: "Own a piece of Paso Robles History! Poker chips from Duke's Smoke Shop and Poker Room destroyed in a fire in 1974. $12.50"

Evidently the chips were there on consignment and when I made the purchase, I was asked if I would like 12 more that the shop keeper had at home and would bring in the next day. I said sure and figured that during the night I could check on the "Duke's" chips and if they were real common, I could decide the next day if I wanted the additional ones or not. Late the next day I decided to go for it and went back to get the additional chips. Nearly all of them were yellow, but there was also a red version in the baggie.

Red is not described in Eastman's Guide, nor is it Staeffler's Guide, so perhaps this is a new find (the red). However, where I thought the yellow and beige chips were worn, the red one is extremely worn! Here then are all three colors of the "Duke's"/"GFB" chips:

But hey, there is a bit more of a twist here, which I'll post in another thread about the second lot that was mostly yellow chips....

Thanks for looking, and yes, I have yellow and beige traders.
