I am a licensed fireworks exhibitor in the State of Ohio and on the 4th of July I was shooting the display for the City of Port Clinton, just off of Lake Erie. During the finale a 3” shell left the mortar pipe and broke about 4’ out of the pipe. I was hit by a good size chunk of the shell casing in the chin. I received 3 stitches and possibly a nice scar as a reminder that fireworks can cause injury. First time in 16 years that I or someone from my crew was injured. My next show is this Saturday July 7th at Erie Island Resorts in Ohio. Hopefully that show will go off with out injury.
