(1) William F. Harrah opened his first bingo parlor on October 30, 1937, but by December of 1937 it was closed. Harrah spent the winter raising money and re-opened his casino called the Heart Tango between Virginia and Center streets, in the heart of the action.

(2)In January 1980, KDWN-AM finally switched to talk radio. KDWN was the only talk station in town and one of the first responders of the 1980 MGM grand fire for which they won an award.
