Since the competion currently in-progress is for 2006, this explains why there is no listing for 2006 on the Club's website for past OTY winners.
Rick, the OTY Awards are based on calendar year. Therefore, the chip you are showing (which is dated 2007) will not be eligible until the opening of the next contest. That opening will be just after midnight, New Years Eve 2007. Any member can then nominate up to five different eligible items in each of the four OTY categories, by submission on a form to-be-realeased on January 1st. After the close of the nominations, the OTY Awards Co-Chairs will tally and tabulate the top ten nominees in each category, which then become the Finalists. From there we acquire each of the Finalists for scanning and display purposes and create a Judge's Pamplet, which depicts each nominee, in full-size and in color. Those are then sent to the Judges, who make their selections and return to tyhe Assistant OTY Chair and those votes are tabulated and tallied to find out which nominee was rated #1 in each category. The winners are then announced at the Convention Banquet by yours truely!
As indicated in the opening sentance, we are now at the point of the Judge's Pamphlets being mailed to the Judges.
Lastly, it is very important to keep in mind, any member is allowed (and encouraged) to nominate, HOWEVER, to be a Judge you MUST make a nomination. Voting is only open to the membership that also takes the time and has the interest to make a nomination.
Your turn will be this January and that is a nice looking chip!
