Never really got re-started in the right direction after walking into AA early on with top pair top kicker (I had AK suited and managed to survive the inevitable with about 800 in chips from a starting stack of 3000. It was short stack play from then on. Won a couple (actually more than a couple now that I think about it) of races with premium pockets, but never had enough chips to truly push anyone around.
Eventually went all in with AQ suited from the button *(which I already knew was a mistake, but...) and got called by the big blind and a middle position limper. The limper popped a 7 for trips on the flop and I nevcer improved. I made it about 3/4 of the way through level 6.
Needless to say, despite doing much better than last year, I was less than impressed with my overall play and definitely did not like my results. Sorry, guys and ladies.
The only consolation was that I popped a 2-5 NL game for about $1100.00 that night at the Orleans. Guess I was a little aggravated at donking off to that AA and took it out on some unsuspecting players. However, if any of you guys want to get into a truly action game for about $200.00 initial investment, I highly recommend the Orleans on a Saturday Night shortly after their 7:00 p.m. tournament starts and people start busting out. Nothing short of entertaining. Played till 3:00 A.M. when I almost collapsed form exhaustion. Found out the next morning that the game had kept going until about 12:15 the next morning and I had missed reentering it by about 10 minutes.
