I Put That SS Rex On The Chip Market
Back in 1986, I bought a full box of the $5 SS Rex from Helen Vick of San Rafael, CA. She was the niece of Anthony Strella, AKA Tony Cornero, the owner of the ship and the off-shore casino. I paid $5 each, kept 20 and sold 80 to Bill Borland for $20 each. Bill was probably the first retail chip & token dealer with a store, World-wide Casino Exchange. He would send out a monthly sales catalog, with the most expensive chip, being $40.
