NCR: Royal Cabana may rise again

In Aruba, the Royal Cabana Casino, which closed 2 years ago, is owned by one of two groups that owns part of the LaCabana resort. The group which owned the casino has sold its ownership in the resort (the Villas) and the casino to the Gilmann Group (of Las Vegas), the same group that opened the Key Largo restaurant and casino right next to the Royal Cabana. Originally, the Gilmann Group was only interested in the casino, so they are not merely buying the property to tear down the Royal Cabana and run the La Cabana Villas. I don't know what this means for the Royal Cabana or the Key Largo, but it sounds like both may be run simultaneously. An article in a local Aruba newspaper says, and it is obviously true, that the Royal Cabana is in awful shape and will require substantial work before it can reopen.

There are still legal battles ongoing with the former licensee of the casino (Monsur).
