Re: Having worked there....

A car is not absolutely necessary if you have a way to get from the airport to the casino. There is an intra casino shuttle service but it takes about an hour to travel to all of the casinos using the service. Way too slow for me but better than nothing.

The Grand is probably the best (and biggest) casino in Tunica since it has all of the games you could want and about 130,000 sq ft. I agree that the Horseshoe is also nice and always crowded - great poker room. If you have the time I would go and visit all of the casinos just to get the flavor or each. In my opinion the mickey mouse casinos are Fitzgeralds, Ballys, Sheraton, Resorts and Sams Town. The best are Grand, Horseshoe, Gold Strike and Hollywood. Fitzgeralds is where I stay because they have the easiest comps. It is the only casino (anywhere) where I have played at a $3 BJ table, played the minimum for 5 minutes and asked how long I had to play to get a buffet. Pit boss handed me 2 buffet comps for $14.95 each. And normally the buffet comps can be used at any restaurant so I have eaten in the steakhouse using a buffet comp! They are also the only casino anywhere that I know of that has full pay single deck BJ at $5 min. They pay for almost everything every trip for me plus cash bonuses.

Long story short is that Tunica is well worth the trip.
