There have been regional chip shows in the past. Not just single afternoon collectors' gatherings (nothing wrong with those), but actual multiple-day shows with space for dealer tables, and special casino hotel room rates for attendees. These are/were basically small scale convention type events put on or hosted by regional clubs or individuals living in close proximity to the areas. Bob Gabel had at least one in the Gulf Port/Biloxi area that was, by all accounts, quite a success. The Colorado club has done a couple shows in Black Hawk in cooperation with the Riviera. Jim Munding's efforts in Reno and Arcadia are more examples. The ACCCC has their annual big meeting that, while it is just a one day event, has been interesting enough to me to travel from Colorado to Jersey to attend, twice! I'd love to see a weekend event in Tunica, as I've never been there, and that would be added incentive to make the trip at least once.
I'm not sure how the could be directly involved in these smaller shows, other than offering complimentary space on the club site for displaying show information. Given the voluntary nature of all of the BOD and appointed positions, expanding into other areas might be asking too much.
