But, a social event with a trade session and maybe a poker tournament is more than doable. You are restricting secondary events to be a certain thing, why not try for something new? Why does there need to be a trade show?
Heck, set up a get together weekend, a BBQ, a poker tournament, a tour of some relevant local site or sites. You could have a trade session, all you would need is a room for that. Say only a hundred people show, great.
