There is nothing flawed with David's anaylisis. The facts are that after the Life Member ceases to remain a Life Member (through eventual death) his lump sum payment still continues to generate income for the club through the LM interest-bearing account.... for as long as the club is in existance.... with no further LM services provided to those deceased individuals.

How many CC & GTCC LM's now ... a couple hundred??
