Re: ok, I'll ask................. grin

Lawn Bowling? Not much of it in Nevada but it is big in Arizona.Caters mainly to retired people. HOWEVER....all of the world's better players are younger-anywhere from 18 to about 45.
I coach kids and have about 17 which I coach anywhere from the age of 11 to 25.I also coach seniors but the kids are more fun cause they have less negative expectations.
I am one of only two junior coachs in British Columbia and I am happy to say that several of my kids have gone on to the National Team and have played in World Chamionships everywhere from Australia & Japan to places like Fiji,Wales,Scotland Hong Kong etc.The girls I coach have won the Canadian Championship 8 out of 9 years.
It is a huge sport in the UK area, parts of Europe,New Zealand Hong Kong etc.,but, because of the playing season, which is mainly in the summer,it has to compete with other sports so it is difficult to get younger people to play when there are vacations with the family, baseball, soccer etc out there to play.
It is an old sport dating back to about the 1500's and is similar to curling/bocce and even chess(for startegy purposes).
It is VERY BIG in Australia, and many of the bowls clubs have slots in their clubhouses and they make a ton of money.(And I was there several years ago BEFORE I collected chips/tokens{{sniff...sniff...tear...tear}}Some clubs may have 2,000 members, but many just go there to gamble.
It is a very competitive game and is great exercise and can be played by anyone regardless of age.
I started 14 years ago after a baseball injury and have never turned back.
Just go to Google and go here: http://www.bowlscanada.com/... and you will find out about it.
If you want a competitive sport and you live near a lawn bowling green especially if you are in the Arizona area.Give it a try.Men and women of all ages can play and be as competitive as they wish.
I know that our Aussie club members know what I am talking about:>)
