It took a lot of thought on my part to make some decisions concerning my treatments and medications that I made. It was to the point that some days I needed a wheelchair. I’m pretty much back to walking without even my walker on level flooring. I will meet with the Oncology doctor tomorrow, and another round of discussions will take place.
It sure looks like I’ll be around for my 1st grandchild, which will be born next Tuesday at the latest, as there will induce on next Monday if need be. Sure wish they were a little closer then 925 miles away.
Now for the other side of the story. Many know or have figured out that drag racing was a big part of my life. The last of the cars and the 32-foot trailer left last Tuesday. That leaves one 509 cubic inch alcohol blower motor left to sell and a 2005 Crew cab 2500HD 4WD Chevy with 14000 miles. No more 0 to 150+ in 660 feet and under 4.500 seconds in the rail. No more 0 to 70+ in one second. No more 195 MPH runs in the quarter mile. No more 150 MPH quarter mile passes in a 105-inch wheelbase nova. The rail was 268 inches. No more giving the neighbors 9.4 second, 140 MPH + rides at the local track. 2 years back, track management allowed ride along in cars that were safe, and I was able to give about 8 neighbors rides that wanted one. It’s no rail, but still would go 0 to 60+ in 1.3 seconds. Watching the Nova leave was tough, but best for all. I’m smart enough to understand that I’ll never get back into a racecar. Many days I can hardly get into our car. The rail stayed in the family, as the daughter and son in law are the new owners. He’s got a fairly level head for a 27 year old, and got to make a few easy passes last year in it. If you call 8.90 @156 easy. By his 5th pass we had him running 7.90’s @175.
While watching the Nova leave was hard, I also understand there was a big possibility it might of left without me seeing it.
I alsi wish to thank all for the words of support over the past 9 months.
Thanks for listening.
