NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

A new currency is making its debut. Well, sort of anyway. A small island in Canada on the Pacific coast called ‘Salt Spring Island’ has had Adlertech International, a currency printing company produce some $80,000.00 worth of the new notes in denominations of $1,$2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. The notes are actually a private issue note and are unofficially exchangeable at par with the Canadian dollar and some merchants wanting to promote the new idea have declared they will honor the notes and give a 10% bonus for their use. These notes are not without opposition, many residents of Salt Spring Island oppose the use if these notes sighting the funding of the movement to make Salt Spring Island a sovereign nation. The note is sanctioned under Canadian law meeting all the requirements of a gift certificate.

The note on display today is a 2001 issue $1 Dollar note. Designed by Pat Walker the front has the map of Salt Spring Island with a heart imposed on it at left, shoreline village at center, and Henry Wright Bullock at right wearing a top hat. The back is a typical farming scene with men gathering hay. This note is not listed but has an aproxamate value of $4.00 USD. ENJOY

These notes are for sale from http://www.saltspringdollars.com and are appearing on eBay as well for a slightly higher cost.
