Let me get the easy point out of the way, I'll bet Allen would love for someone to do a column on California chips-contact him, I bet you can get the job. That is the key, somebody has to be willing to do the job, and have the time to do it. Is it ay surprise that Archie does AC or Greg does Riverboats, those are their passions. I'd like to see Mark do a column on trays and small town nevada history.
I disagree with your idea of including specialized VPs, but I do think the club should pay more attention to Non Nevada. I hope the club historian pays as much attention to the gaming history outside of Nevada. I find the articles on that history to be the most interesting in the club mag. I also suspect that may be one of the hooks needed to bring in new members, retain more members, and to motivate them to be more involved.
I believe the board meets face to face more tha once a year, I like the idea of a traveling smaller event. Lots of organizations do that, and they are great fun. Besides Calif (which is fairly close to Nevada), we could have events in AC-CONN-COLORADO-DEADWOOD-CHICAGO-ST LOUIS-DETROIT-TUNICA/MEMPHIS-NAWLINS-FLORIDA, heck while we are at it Aruba . But again, it would require folks willing to do the work to make it happen. The Steffners do an incredible amount of work, not to forget the multitude of other volunteers, to put on the very successful club conventions. This could also be a hook.
Interesting thoughts, thank you.
