RE:An 18% turnout is very poor....in my opinion
As a brand new member,I felt that I should not vote as I absolutely have no idea as to who anyone is.
I am wondering how many other relatively new members there are out there who are in the same situation as me.
With the bickering which seemed to be prevalent on the board for a period of time since I joined,I sure would have liked to have met/spoken to the nominees or at least seen them in action so that I could determine who to vote for.
AS for long time members...maybe they did not vote because they felt that this was a no brainer as to who would win??? No idea.It just seems that the majority of people in many hobbies or sport federations or whatever, simply want to go about their business and really do not care who wins elections just as long as they can continue and are not disrupted in their chosen hobby or sport or...whatever.
Sad,I know....but just a fact of life these days it seems.
Nonetheless...whether it be 400 or 4,000,the election is over.Congrats to the winner and now,as a club,we have to reach out to our members and convince them to participate in these elections,if only to show that they care about the club as a whole, and that the whole election procedure might actually benefit themselves and their chosen hobby.
