More of the "what's up with the wacky USPS?" drama. Today in the mail I received two envelopes: one from the lovely Ellen Springer from the East Coast, containing a pretty $2 Mardi Gras chip; and the second, from Ron Lammer in the Midwest, with a splendid $1 Run for the Roses chip. Aside from the fact that someone at the post office (I assume) tried to rip Ron's envelope to shreds, presumably to pilfer the contents (which he packed well enough that the chip didn't spill out), there was nothing remarkably different about these two envelopes. Actually, there was one slight difference: Ron's was somewhat thicker than Ellen's (probably from the tape the would-be thief added to cover his tracks).
So, after all that, one wonders why Ellen's envelope was charged $1.13, where Ron's went for .58ยข. To that end, I'm going to the post office tomorrow to put in a formal complaint about the attempted theft, and at the same time, will try to get the USPS to give a solid answer on their rampant inconsistencies with these packages.
In any case, many thanks to Ellen, Ron, and also Von for the chips you sent me today. They're all very cool.
