Actually, last year, there were three places in Newport that had poker or blackjack. I picked up the Rogue chip there during my trip there. I wrote up a report about it last year. You can find it in the archives.
A brief summary:
Rogue Ale Pub (a pub and restaurant at the waterfront): poker and blackjack 3 times a week beginning some time after 9 pm.
Apollo's (a dance place): blackjack (they use generic chips and the rules are VERY unfavorable)
Moby's (a bar in the main part of town): poker 1 to 2 times a week, not sure when. I don't know anything about their chips. I found out about the game during my last night, when I finally made it in to Rogue.
I will have to get a $1 Piptide, I guess. Thanks, Jodi. Do you know of any other older chips?
