In Response To: NCR: Cable vs. DSL? ()

Thanks for all the information all. Even before the cable techs got to my house, I had decided to try Verizon' DSL since they had a 30 day money back guarantee. I had a simple question, so I tried their click-to-chat feature. It turns out I think I got the worst customer service rep in the company, if not the world. It totally turned me off. At this point, I was plenty frustrated by the time the cable guys got here. I kept asking myself if there was anyone, ANYONE left in the world that was competent.

It couldn't have turned around any better.

Insight actually sent 2 guys to my house. I think their names were Yoda and Mr. Spock. Unlike previous Techs, these guys knew what they heck they were doing and they had the really, REALLY cool diagnostic gear! (The last guys had $5 meters from Radio Shack.) After about 20 minutes of probing and studying, they replaced the line in my yard, redid the splitter strategy in my basement, recapped all of my cables and gave me a new cable modem. The results? I now have On Demand cable service back and my internet runs about 40% faster as measured by dslreport.com tools. In short, I'm a happy little geek again!
