The old slot director at Harrah's in Reno and Tahoe told Bud Meyer and I once that they had real problems with collectors taking all of their silver dollars in the 1950's and 1960's. Harrah's was buying new dollars direct from the mint and they received nuncirculated specimens. To stop the problem, they would dump the silver dollars in an empty cement mixer to all a lot of wear to them in short time, thus reducing the value to collectors, and keeping their silver dollar inventory intact. I would assume that the Fitxgeralds example underwent the same process. I hope that this helps.

John
