Hi Mark,

Just a guess on my part. He probably bought bags of silver dollars to use and possibly many of them were uncirculated. Coin collectors during that era probably were taking many from his casinos and he had to buy more. To counteract this he would "tumble" the silver dollars to make them less attractive to coin collectors at the time and be able to keep them in the casino for use.

I may not be correct but anyone else with more information please post the info!
