Chuck is the one who should apologize. I know that it will never happen because, according to his last email, he thinks I am a pain in the ass. He also commented about my lack of money, but still being able to get to the convention in 2005. He doesn't realize that I had to charge (borrow) the money so my wife, two girls, and I could make it. We had a great time, and I even got to meet "Mr. Wonderful" himself. It's been the only real vacation we have ever taken together, and it was only for a weekend.
Anyway, the truth is Steve that if I had seen the contest earlier I would have posted my own name. Of course I would have refused the free chip (which probably wouldn't have included the postage fees).
It didn't bother me that people know I refuse to pay Chuck's high chip prices. It just bothers me that Chuck felt he had to tell people about it. Again I ask WHY?
Chuck really helped me out when I first started collecting. I had nothing but high praises for him. That is the main reason why he was my main NIS guy for so many years. Andy Hughes was always a little lower with his chip prices, but I was happy with Chuck's service, and his speedy shipping. A .50 cent difference I can live with, but now it's $1.00 difference for chips I could probably get for under $7.00 if I was patient enough. Chuck doesn't think Andy will sell me any future chips. I guess that is up for Andy to say. I wish I had started my collecting with Andy instead of Chuck.
Bottom line is that Chuck had no reason to make that post. He was just being spiteful, and very, VERY unprofessional.
Take my advise: Buy from Andy Hughes, or at least someone other than Chuck Smorse.
Be well,
Glenn
