19 cents at the old Hudson stations
Mary Hudson
Mary Hudson’s story of success is cast in the classic Horatio Alger mold. Widowed at a young age in 1933 with a six-month old daughter to support, she borrowed $200 and opened a gas station, the business she knew best. It was the beginning of a career in the oil industry which has spanned more than 45 years.
Mary Hudson is unique in her business. She is the first woman to have founded an oil company and the first woman to be president of a national oil trade group, the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers.
