....to Viet Nam. One is major media outlets that are opposed to the current administration, to the point that they long ago became incapable of unbiased coverage of world events. Some are giving aid, comfort and cover to our enemies while portraying our military as the evil participants in this battle. You can view it nightly on NBC, ABC and CBS. The other parallel is a substantial number of Democratic Senators and Representatives who believe they should collectively be the real Commander in Chief. The Joint Chiefs of Staff should answer to them, not the President. The Generals and Admirals actually directing our military should base their decisions on what these Congressmen and women think, not on what their training, experience and intelligence would dictate.
Those two things are what lead to much of our failure in Viet Nam. Our casualties were high before we go out of Nam. The casualties that followed our departure were genocidal -- millions more people were killed in the region.
We aren't fighting a war against Iraq, we are fighting a war against terrorism in Iraq. We are fighting Al Qaeda, we are fighting Iranians and Syrians and Jordanians and Saudis, all who are Islamo-fascists hell-bent on the destruction of civilization as we know it. If we don't stay in this fight, where we are fighting it, until the Iraqis become strong enough to maintain a semblance of stability within their own borders (a definition of winning this particular conflict), we will be fighting those same enemies on our own soil. Too bad Pelosi, Murtha, Reid and others don't realize that fact.
