As I mentioned on my site, the ivory itself may or may not be antique (how would ebay know). I assume that the ivory is legal ivory. So what? What makes them collectible is not antique.
What I am saying is that the chips are not hand carved, antique gambling chips.
The sellers are buying blank ivory rounds and letting a machine "carve" the design. Most of the ivory repros aren't even cut right. Using carpenter's vernacular, genuine antique chips are made from ivory that was "crosscut". The repro ivory, for the most part, has been "ripped".
