I went a few years ago on RCL. I loved every minute of it. I would suggest a decent pair of binoculars. I agree the helicopter trip to the glacier is awesome. Also,while I did not see any casinos in Alaska, there is several "Pull Tab" or "Nevada" stores in each of the ports we stopped in. If you are into such things. Finally if you are worried about the dinner thing, check and see if there is a charge for room service. On RCL there was not a charge, and my ex-mother-in-law got a small snack brought to the room almost every evening to hold he over until the late seating of dinner.
