Why all the displeasure with these home poker chip sets? I don't get it.....
We are a small hobby. In my book, ANYBODY interested in ANY kind of chip related hobby ought to be welcomed with open arms. We NEED to grow.
And please, don't tell me we need to protect someone from being "duped" into believing they are purchasing a real, honest to goodness AUTHENTIC casino poker chip. God forbid they might be confused! I don't buy that. The buyer should know what they are buying. If they are not wise enough to figure out that they are purchasing a home poker set version of a REAL authentic chip that brings in a whopping $5 or so every day on eBay, then let 'em be duped!!!
I get the sense, though, that a part of the reason some here don't like the home poker chip set collector crowd is because we think we are the last word in chip collecting. And we are, but recognize that there is a very finite number of old vintage chips out there to collect, and a large percentage of our overall small numbers of collectors are holding those chips. Dosen't leave alot of room for growth, does it?
Let them have their fun. We need to encourage interest in chipping in any form. Plus I don't care what anyone says, my "Key West Casino" collection looks pretty darn cool, even if it only exists out in Never-Never Land.
Just some food for thought......as long as it is not illegal, I say live and let live.
