Jerry.
I gave my reasoning for calling. I was not looking to wait out the low stack to move up a spot. I was looking to build my stack to try & win the tournament. If the flop did not hit me then I would have had about $215,000 left & would have folded & gone onto the next hand. It did hit me with top pair & I took a chance that he might have AJ or KJ & I could double through him. It did not turn out that way.
Your statement of...
"so you have 4 go-arounds left."
...is not correct as far as I'm concerned. You don't wait so long that you don't have enough chips to make someone back off of a hand. As far as I was concerned, I had enough chips for maybe two rounds. Either way, I needed to make a move in the next round or two if I wanted to have enough chips to do something with.
As to...
"THAT stack will shove in VERY soon, and with the large stacks behind, that stack is getting called."
You would think so, but as I'm sure you have read already, he did shove all in & not even the big blind with $1.2 million in chips called the $40K re-raise.
And finally...
"I think folding was the best option, and calling the worst."
That's what makes the game so interesting. Everyone thinks they know the right way to play. Andy - Las Vegas
