What to Do If You Get These
In Response To: NEWEST PHONEY EBAY! ()

Since you automatically suspected something was wrong with this letter, ie, not originating from eBay, assume it's fake, as you did.

This is called "pfishing" because when you got to their fake link they will try to catch your user name and password. DON'T click on the link.

If you want to do your own investigating, just to make sure eBay's system didn't make a mistake, log onto eBay using your NORMAL METHOD, not the handy fpishing link provided in the e-mail.

After you've concluded you were being scammed (not spammed) using your e-mail program FORWARD the e-mail (with no changes, not even to the subject) to spoof@ebay.com.

eBay actually investigates these pfishing expeditions and works with law enforcement to track them down and prosecute the operators.

Then, delete the e-mail so you don't accidently get caught at a later date.

Deleting is an important step. You must try to avoid the urge to save them in a collection to trade or sell them as you accumulate more and more. At most, catalog them and then sell the catalog. rofl
