Fun read Jeff, thanks for the posts and pics. Must have been a pretty interesting time in those days of CA. I've always wondered about the raid on the Clover Club on Sunset Blvd back then. Lew and al Wertheimer started the joint and it was popular with the movie folks. Seems like the place would've had some juice. Bugsy Siegel came aboard ownership-wise and I'll bet he was surprised when the cops busted the Club! Cornero, Werthheimer, Werthheimer, and Siegel...doesn't seem like there'd be any flys on those guys but somebody didn't like 'em I guess. Here's a link to a photo of the raid.
