The style chip that Mel and Armin had made for the Trocadero show is frequently called "brass core", as it's made with the same process. However,the later chips (such as the Trocadero fantasy chip) did not use brass as the core material, but a bi-metal alloy that is considerably lighter. Chips with a bi-metal core were also made for several California customers.
I prefer the term that Howdy Herz introduced many years ago, "Plastic Molded Slug Core", or PMSC. This is a better descriptive term in my opinion, and applies whether the slug core is brass or some other metal.
