While I personally enjoy the Riviera, I know my wife won't stay there. A tad on the old and beat up side.
That being said, there are off strip properties which may be of some interest, such as the Orleans or the SunCoast (I think it is still called this) which probably have sufficient space and have held Poker and Balck Jack Tournaments in the past.
I think the my wife would have the same issues with the Trop. An older, less comfotable, property.
Now without getting into a discussion of elitism, I agree that properties like most of the MGM and Harrahs would not likely be much interested in hosting the convention. For that I give Kudos to the Riv.
But with the rumours of the Riv being sold, yet again. With, likely, plans for it to go the way of the Stardust, alternative venues may be forced upon us as a Club whether we like it or not. So maybe its time to think about looking at other venues.
Thanks, Don, for putting the effort for all of us.
Realize though, that I get out of the snow only once of twice a year. Mostly to Vegas, and for sure for the Convention. This will be my third since becoming a member 2 1/2 years ago. I like the Vegas headquarters (although Reno might have its attractions).
