Lynn just spent nearly an hour with our Postmaster about the upcoming postal rate increase.

Chips and little stuff will see little difference except for a monetary increase.

Larger items are going to turn into a nightmare because every box will have to be measured plus figuring the weight. So, if you are shipping larger stuff you need to know the size of the box, inch by inch, to make a postage calculation. Looks like we will have to pack item or at least figure out box size before listing an item.

Probably no problem if able to ship in a #4 or #7 Priority box but if using your own box calculations will have to be made.

Then, it doesn't sound like any rates will be published until the day it takes effect.

If people are paying attention I wouldn't list anything of any size, on Ebay and quote a shipping rate until it goes into effect.

Our postmaster says it is going to be a nightmare but that USPS pays for space on planes and their new computer system will figure cubic foot allotments and charge accordingly. Apparently USPS has no planes of their own like UPS and FedEx...I don't know.

So, say, you ship a huge box with a fiberglass lampshade in it that weighs 4 pounds and also ship a huge box that has 28 pounds in it of the same size..They will cost the same.

You gotta love it...anybody got anything to add...???
