Angelle's ongoing life story is unusual, and you're right about the husbands' last name beginning with an "S". Her 1st husband (Seeling) was in the military, and overseas when she first started racing. He had a street bike that she decided to take to the track to see what she and it could do. When he returned home from his overseas tour, his former street bike had an air shifter and wheelie bars. Her 2nd husband (Savoie) was an ex pro football player. From what I've read, he treated her pretty bad.

Eric's accident has had an enormous impact on the sport. The entire Force team sat out the O'Reilly NHRA Nationals last week in Houston. It was the first NHRA national event that John has missed since the mid 1980's. They wanted to find out exactly what happened with the car that caused Eric's injuries. Apparently the car developed a harmonic shake so severe that Eric experienced an injury similar to shaken baby syndrome. He was out before the car hit the wall -- was off the throttle with the chutes out before he became unconscious. The team has been going over the available on-car computer data and photo/film records of the test run, consulting with experts in every field of racing and car/chassis design, and reportedly has been testing at Indy within the last week. It was a truly tragic accident, and team Force has been doing everything possible to find the cause. I have confidence they will find the cause, and there is no doubt they will share that info with every fuel Funny Car team. Both JR Todd and Ron Capps dedicated their wins last week to the Medlen family and JFR. Eric was a good kid and a good driver. He touched a lot of lives during his all-too-short career, mine included.

In case you were wondering, I work drag racing media. I'd be in Vegas next weekend, but there are three NHRA divisional points races being contested next weekend, so I got assigned to the Texas Motorplex instead. ....gonna spend five days in "y'all" country. At least I can get the audio stream from LVMS while I'm in the tower in Dallas.
