...have to watch out for the idiots of the 4-wheel variety on the streets.
I hit a pickup truck that made a left turn in front of me (said he didn't see me). I almost missed him -- hit the truck behind the rear wheel. I would have just locked up my back tire and slid the bike under the truck, taking my chances on getting a little road rash, but I had a girl on the back of the bike, didn't want to send her rolling down the street without warning, so I locked up both tires and prayed. That one cost me a broken hand and a bunch of bruises...
I also got rear-ended by a Pontiac while I was stopped at a flashing red light. This was about midnight, the girl was driving without her headlights on, and I stayed stopped at the red light so I could tell her that she didn't have her headlights on. Turned out she was going to run the red light until she saw me sitting there. By the time I realized she wasn't planning on stopping, it was too late for me to get out of the way. I didn't get hurt (thank God) and the damage to the bike wasn't extreme, but it scared crap out of me (figuratively, not literally). I went to her insurance company's office two days later with a written estimate to repair the damage to the bike, told them all I wanted was to get the bike fixed. They wrote me a check on the spot and thanked me profusely!
Keep all available lights on that machine during all hours of the day. Where available and practical, add lights, and change out incandescents with LED's or Xenons. Anything you do to make yourself more visible can do nothing but help make you safer when riding.
....and even after all of that, I wish I had one just like yours!
