Tonight’s note comes from out southern neighbors in Mexico. It is a 1972 issue 5 Peso. (Front) Lacorregidora at right. National Arms (Eagle with snake) at left. (Back) Blue agave plant at left. Village of Queretaro at ctr.
The blue agave plant is what Mescal and Tequila are made from. Tequila is actually Mescal made from 100% pure blue agave in the Tequila Indian region of Mexico. It is against Mexican law to label Mescal as Tequila unless it meets these criteria. Also 100% pure blue agave juice is against the law to export, Mexico protects their tequila. The worm in the bottom of Mescal is there to prove the alcohol content is high enough to keep the worm preserved. No worms are found in Tequila as it is the premium quality of the Mescals and needs no proof of quality.
This note is UNCirculated and carries a book value of $1.50 ENJOY!!
TRIVIA: You Notice the note says "Mexico S.A." The proper name for Mexico is "Mexico States of America"
