Technically the club has not officially opposed slabbing, they have officially taken the position that the practice lacks the safeguards, and support to permit it within formal club activities. The current board has taken the position that they are opposed. It may seem like a insignificant differentiation, but I had nothing better to do at this moment.
As for buying a slabbed chip, I think both sides make valid points. I suppose in an auction I would bid what I thought was best for me. That bid would not take into consideration the slabbing costs. The slabber has already benefited, what does he care what it sells for. The seller is screwed one way or the other. But it helps to tell him, so maybe he'll be smarter in the future. My 2 cents for what it is worth.
