This picture of the Wynn. $8 pig was taken with ambient room light and the UV pen using the setup shown in the original post. If you wanted better UF image, you could turn the room light off. If you want better rendition of the visible chip colors, use a separate white lite for illumination. The pen emits some blue light just below the invisible UV spectrum so you can see what is being illuminated.
