Jim
Im going to respond to the top half of your post in a couple of simple lines only.
You do far too much reading between the lines.
I reposted merely to bring the topic further up the board in case you had missed it.
There was no 'IMPLICATION' anywhere. Not sure how you read that in. I was trying to explain that when Ive been to look at topics after you sent a link suggesting I might choose to comment, Ive either had posts deleted or seen by the responses to other posters that Im wasting my time. End of story on that. Concentrate on what I was trying to discuss and not what you thought I was saying
For the record, it was only the other night that I deleted all the notifications from my chiptalk mailbox telling me Id had a post deleted. From memory there were 13. Just so happens it seems its the last 13 posts I made.
The one instance Im aware of where I included a link to my website is where I had been specificaly asked to post a picture, and it was too big to load, so I included a link to the page with the picture.
On the other issue, the list of mods I looked at obviously included those with private forums, so it gave the impression the majority are "sellers".
I think you will find some of the regular mods are sellers/resellers or backers or whatsoever for many of the products anyway.
Now the matter in hand
I wouldnt use the term "blight upon the hobby" per se. Im not going to say 'Im with you' until you actually make some suggestions about what YOU are planning to do about it, rather than just saying you are going to do something.
Sounds like the same discussion we had at the Palms.
I need you to convince me it would be possible to do something about it, as I am far from convinced.
