Must be over 2 years ago now. I went alone to the London Hard Rock casino specifically for chips from the VIP (table 5) which no-one seemed to have ever obtained before.
However, I did have some people asking me for colors from other tables so I thought Id get whatever I could.
During one session, I got 15 each of 28 out of the 35 possible colors. 420 chips total, pockets were bulging all over the place and it was hard to walk properly
Now, in London, you have to be a member of any casino, so they know who you are.
The next afternoon I get a phone call from the manager saying his security people had traced me through the tapes taking roulettes, and if I didnt bring them back and explain to him what I was doing I would be banned from all Grosvenor Casinos in the UK.
I went back and took the 420 chips. Real bummer - they had only spotted me taking one color off table 5 - had I known I could have just returned those 15 chips. I lost the whole 420 (obviously they had to 'cash' them). I explained why I wanted them and was told:
1. Had I spoken to someone senior first they may have been able to help me.
2. Any more than a couple of chips taken in future and its going to be a problem.
Over the next 2 years I only went there a couple of times, got cash chips, and had no problems. Didnt attempt to get roulettes.
When the casino announced they had a new rack and would likely be changing the roulettes back in December, I had a couple people here asking me to try again
I went back with a friend. It took 3 goes but I got them all. Only took 4 of each.
Expensive enough business when some tables are £5 ($10) a chip buy in. Managed to do it at no extra cost above buy-in.
