Off-Strip Success
The praises just keep coming for chef Susan Rispoli and her upstart neighborhood Italian eatery, JR’s Place (215 and Durango). Her off-strip success is centered around her entirely authentic Italian menu, which she offers 24-hours a day, and the growing list of local influencers who have taken to dining with Rispoli on a regular basis. This week it was socialite Linda Schimberg, legal beagle Louis Palazzo and caviar dreamer Robin Leach who stopped by. Palazzo, one of the defense lawyers in the Binion murder case, has been known to drop-by as many as four times a week, clamoring for the Braciole and Cannoli’s because, as he says himself, the dishes remind him of his grandmother’s. Schimberg is another local who has taken to bringing interesting people into JR’s Place for tasty fare. This week she stopped by with La Cage and Crazy Girls owner/producer Norbert Aleman and colorist to the stars Michael Boychuck. The biggest compliment to Rispoli might have come from Leach, who noted that he hardly dines off the Strip, but so many people had told him to stop in, he couldn’t hold-off any longer. As to be expected, Rispoli’s charm was infectious and quickly had Leach enjoying the great food and wine while discussing old-country recipes. You mean you still haven’t been? Well what are you waiting for?
