are possibly two types of stickers and two methods of attachment. Do we have reports of this second version existing before now?
Also, this is the story that goes with them...
From the person that got them:
"I found some information that might be interesting to anyone who has the Kings Crown Hotstamped chips or any of the other Kings Crown chips that are in existence.
I was talking to this old timer and he says that he knows this fellow by the name of Sharkey or that he knows the Sharkey family or some such thing. He then goes on to tell me that this Sharkey guy knew the original owner of what was to become the Kings Crown in Vegas. Apparently when they couldn't get the gaming license for the Kings Crown or what ever happened there Sharkey bought many (or possibly all) of the chips and had them labeled with his label as can be seen below:
It sounded like they used them for Roulette. Apparently this is why a lot of the chips that you see on e-bay from the original Kings Crown appear to have seen quite a bit of play.
He sold me a few of each pretty cheap so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Unfortunately he doesn't have any more, I asked. The ones I bought were absolutely dead mint except for the label on them. I thought I would just remove the labels and I would have nice chips to add to my Kings Crown collection. I took a razor and peeled the labels off. It left a sticky residue that I couldn't get off right away so I tried some acetone. Unfortunately that was a bit too powerful of a solvent and I sort of messed up the first chip I tried it on. You can see how the blue from the spots on the yellow $5 got smudged into the yellow. Next I tried some paint thinner and that worked like a charm. Once the adhesive was all off I just washed the stink off with a little mild detergent and rinsed them off. Now they are as good as brand spanking new!"
After sticker removal and before clean-up"
