Whenever I make a mistake it is truly a mistake. I never wan't to mislead a buyer - it makes for unhappy customers and unhappy customers look for different suppliers.
I don't really know whether I'm a fanatic about accuracy because of my vocation as a Global Quality Manager for my company, or I because Global Quality Manager for my company because I was already of that ilk.
I do know that I was the face of our company to many international customers. I was also an ISO9000 Quality System Lead Auditor and audited the systems and performance of our manufacturing facilities in Argentina, France, the Netherlands, the US, Mexico, and Peoples Republic of China.
They had no doubt as to the expectations to provide the customer product that was within the agreed upon specifications.
The people within my company who had the least qualms about delivering (surreptitiously of course) nonconforming product, were, strangely enough, the salesmen. But, maybe that's not so strange as I put salesmen and lawyers pretty much into the same category.
In any case, when faced with facts I ALWAYS corrected my errors, and if not discovered until I had been paid, I contacted the buyer and basicly recalled the item.
